You'll get to choose between two powertrains, one of which is a plug-in hybrid. The R/T trims models are the ones that have this plug-in hybrid system, making them the first PHEVs to be released by Dodge. They use turbocharged 1.3-liter engines along with electric motors. You can rely exclusively on the electric motor on short drives close to home. When you use the engine and motor, the Hornet can make 288 horsepower.
The GT versions of the Hornet use gas-powered engines. These engines have displacements of two liters and have been enhanced with turbochargers. They can deliver 268 horsepower. Both powertrain options come standard with all-wheel drive to improve traction as you drive around South Pittsburg.
